Mechanisms Participation in the TEMM21 Directors General Meeting, Kitakyushu Japan 2019.10.17 ~ 2019.10.18

On 18 October 2019, TCS delegation headed by Deputy Secretary-General CAO Jing attended the Directors General Meeting (DGM) for the 21st Tripartite Environment Ministers Meeting (TEMM21) held in Kitakyushu, Japan. From the three countries, Mr. KONDO Tomohiro, Director General of the Ministry of the Environment of Japan, Mr. HWANG Suk-tae, Director General of the Ministry of Environment of the ROK, and Ms. SONG Xiaozhi, Counsel of the Ministry of Ecology and Environment of China attended the meeting. 


DSG CAO made opening remarks at the meeting. She highly appreciated the three countries’ efforts to accelerate tripartite cooperation and to lead the regional environmental protection initiatives through institutionalized information sharing system. She expressed TCS’ willingness to continue providing the support and deepening cooperation with the ministries.

During the meeting, the three DGs were reported about the progress of preparation towards TEMM21, and reviewed the progress of the Tripartite Joint Action Plans (TJAP) 2015-2019. As TEMM21 serves as a beginning of the next stage of tripartite environmental cooperation, the three parties agreed to enhance communication and collaboration.

One day prior to the DGM, working-level meeting was held and the above arrangements for TEMM21 were discussed. TCS also attended the meeting and explored further engagement of TCS in the environmental mechanism.
