TC Activities 20th TEMM Youth Forum was held in Suzhou, China 2018.06.22 ~ 2018.06.24

The 20th Tripartite Environment Ministers' Meeting (TEMM) Youth Forum was held from 22 to 23 June in Suzhou, China. This year’s forum gathered 15 youth representatives from China, Japan and the Republic of Korea to discuss and share knowledge under the theme of “contributing to our common future”.

The two-day forum kicked off with warm up activities designed and supported by TCS. Youth representatives interacted with the local community through innovative activities to promote public awareness about the 9 priority areas of cooperation. On the second day, three teams respectively presented their proposals on approaches to shift from environmental awareness to collective youth actions.

DSG Yamamoto delivered a welcome speech and shared his observations and expectations on environmental cooperation among the three countries and the youth. Mr. Jia Feng, Director General, from the Centre for Environmental Education and Communications, Ministry of Environmental Protection, delivered a keynote speech on the priority areas and potentials for cooperation and the youth’s critical role in this arena.

The Youth Forum successfully concluded with positive feedbacks. As one of the representatives commented, the youth are the energetic doers with many potentials. The youth has demonstrated their resolution and capability to shape our sustainable common future in the Northeast Asia region as well as in the globe.

This year’s Forum was the first time that TCS performed as a co-organizer on a major part of the program, and marked our upgraded contribution to the TEMM mechanism.
