Trilateral Cooperation Secretariat (TCS) and the Japan Forum on International Relations (JFIR) will convene Trilateral Economic Symposium "Globalization at a Crossroads: Prospects for the Trilateral Economic Cooperation" on Thursday, June 22, 2017 at "Lecture Hall" International House of Japan.
Economy is one of the most important and active part of cooperation among China, Japan and Korea. The Trilateral Cooperation Secretariat (TCS) has annually published the “Trilateral Economic Report” since 2012 to review in-depth the economic trend and cooperation of the three countries.
In 2017 where many important political agenda have been progressed and will be scheduled, each country of China, Japan and Korea has come to encounter new challenges and opportunities in respective economy. While the fourth industrial revolution has been expected to be a savior of the global stagnated economy, it has been negatively signified that newly emerging concerns have been raised through protectionism, unilateralism, currency manipulation, economic and social disparity, etc. This Symposium is aimed at having vigorous discussions of the economic policies of each country, and exploring prospects of new and creative trilateral cooperation especially in the economic field, seeking a new economic sector as a driving force for future economic engine under the uncertainties and complexities of current world.
The symposium will feature such eminent panelists as Dr. ITOH Motoshige, Professor, Faculty of International Social Sciences, Gakushuin University, Dr. SONG Yeongkwan, Research Fellow, Korean Development Institute, Dr. ZHANG Qi, Vice-Director-General of Research Department of Foreign Economic Relations, Development Research Centre of the State Council and Dr. KAWAI Masahiro, Superior Research Fellow, JFIR / Project Professor, Tokyo University.
