Mechanisms 10th Trilateral Culture Ministers’ Meeting in Harbin, China 2018.08.29 ~ 2018.08.31
The 10th Trilateral Culture Ministers’ Meeting was held in Harbin, China, from August 29 to 31, 2018. The Meeting was presided by Mr. LUO Shugang, Minister of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of China, Mr. HAYASHI Yoshimasa, Minister of Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology of Japan, and Mr. DO Jong-hwan, Minister of Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism of the Republic of Korea. The Trilateral Cooperation Secretariat (TCS)’ s delegation led by DSG Han Mei participated in the Meeting and DSG Han delivered remarks.

DSG Han briefed TCS’ progress and contribution in the field of culture including launching the CJK Olympic Road Photo Exhibition, the promotion of Trilateral Common Vocabulary Dictionary and co-organizing the Crested Ibis international forum. She said TCS is looking forward to participating in more trilateral culture activities and hopes to serve as a focal point in the future. 

At the meeting, the three Ministers reviewed the progress of the follow ups of ‘Qingdao Action Plan’,‘Jeju Declaration 2016’ and ‘Kyoto Declaration 2017’, and acknowledged the achievements made in the field of trilateral cultural cooperation and exchange. Under the recognition of the need to consolidate the future oriented trilateral relations by promoting cultural exchange in different levels, the Ministers signed the ‘Harbin Action Plan’, which stipulated a series of decisions to facilitate cooperation in 1) East Asian Cultural Cities Program, 2) exchange among artists and youth of the three countries, 3) joint cultural program during the Olympic and Paralympic Games, 4) explore possible cooperation in other cultural fields. The Ministers at the press conference also announced the designation of Xi’an of China, Toshima Ku of Japan, and Incheon of ROK as the 2019 East Asian Cultural Cities. 

The next meeting will be held in Incheon, ROK, 2019.
