On August 10, 2024, the Trilateral Cooperation Secretariat (TCS) hosted the Trilateral Youth Exchange Network (TYEN) Wrap-up Meeting 2024 at its office in Seoul, Republic of Korea. The meeting was conducted in a hybrid format, with approximately 30 participants, including TYEN Core Team Members and CJK Project Creators, the two pillars of the TYEN platform. The Core Team Members served as an advisory group for TCS’s youth programs, contributing as mentors, judges, and career talk speakers throughout the year. The Project Creators, selected from a competitive pool of applicants, were provided with a budget of 1,500 USD each to implement their own projects, funded by TCS.

The meeting commenced with opening remarks from Deputy Secretary-General ZUSHI Shuji, followed by presentations on the outcomes of the six Project Creator Groups. The session also included feedback from Core Team Members and opportunities for networking.

In his remarks, Deputy Secretary-General ZUSHI expressed his gratitude to all those involved in the efforts to enhance understanding and build meaningful connections among the youth of China, Japan, and the Republic of Korea. He emphasized that 2024 marks the 25th anniversary of trilateral cooperation among the CJK countries. Over the past two and a half decades, despite various challenges, the core objective of fostering a friendly and forward-looking trilateral relationship has remained steadfast. He also highlighted that the 9th Trilateral Summit underscored the vital role of younger generations in advancing this cooperation, with a strong focus on youth exchange as a key initiative.

The Trilateral Youth Exchange Network (TYEN) was established in 2023 with the goal of connecting youth interested in China-Japan-Korea (CJK) relations and creating a mutual support system to enhance their academic and career development. Under the TYEN umbrella, there are currently nine annual TCS youth programs, supported by the Core Team Member system.
