On August 9, 2024, the Trilateral Entrepreneurs Forum (TEF) 2024 was held at Your World International Conference Centre, Yiwu, China. Under the theme of “Charting New Frontiers in Trilateral E-Commerce Cooperation: Technological Innovation and Green Logistics”, the forum was co-hosted by the Trilateral Cooperation Secretariat (TCS) and China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPTI Zhenjiang). The forum was in charge of the Yiwu Municipal Government and received support from the China Chamber of International Commerce (CCOIC), Keidanren (Japanese Business Federation), the Federation of Korean Industries (FKI), and the China Electronics Chamber of Commerce (CECC). 

In the opening remarks, TCS Deputy Secretary-General YAN Liang stated that he witnessed the latest 9th Trilateral Summit, held on May 27, 2024, which has inserted significant momentum into the China-Japan-ROK Cooperation. While citing that economic cooperation and trade is one of the six key areas highlighted for mutually beneficial cooperation projects in the joint declaration, he emphasized the pillar role of business and trade in the future. Mr. REN Xianfeng, Deputy Secretary General of Zhejiang Provincial People's Government and Mr. CHEN Jianzhong, President of Zhejiang Provincial Committee of China Council for the Promotion of International Trade, also provided opening remarks and expressed the warmest welcome for the Trilateral Entrepreneurs Forum in Yiwu, China. 

Furthermore, onsite congratulatory remarks were delivered by Mr. DONG Fengming, Deputy Director General of the Department of Asian Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China, Mr. TAKENAKA Keiichi, Deputy Consul-General at the Consulate General of Japan in Shanghai, Mr. HAN Sangkook, Deputy Consul General at the Consulate General of the Republic of Korea, and Mr. LEE Sang-gap, Deputy Mayor of Culture and Economy at the Gwangju Metropolitan city of the ROK. Mr. KADO Yasuhiko, Mayor of Awaji City of Japan, Mr. HACHIYAMA Koji, Deputy Director-General for Trade Policy at the Ministry of Economy, Trade, and Industry (METI), and Dr. Kim Jong Chul, Director-General of the International Trade Relations Bureau at the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy (MOTIE) also provided congratulatory messages. 

In Session 1, “Technological Innovation of E-commerce in China, Japan, and the ROK: Bridging Smart Products and Manufacturing Systems”, entrepreneurs from China, Japan, and the ROK shared their best practices for domestic/cross-border e-commerce in the future highly virtualized world and increasingly digital ecosystem. In Session 2, “Green Logistics in China, Japan, and the ROK: Measures to Enhance the Sustainability of Logistics Practices”, business representatives from the local community and each country showed their implementation of improving sustainability in logistics practices and the benefits of green logistics. The moderator and speakers engaged in lively interactions and discussions on the benefits of deepening trilateral cooperation in the field of e-commerce and green logistics in both sessions. 

Trilateral Entrepreneurs Forum (TEF) is TCS’s annual event that provides a platform to connect, communicate, and share innovative ideas in business sectors, as well as promote cross-border business cooperation among the three countries. This year, the forum was held under the theme of e-commerce cooperation as the follow-up project of the 12th Trilateral Economic and Trade Ministers Meeting and attracted around 180 onsite participants from governmental agencies, business sectors, media, and academia from the three countries.
