Mechanisms 9th Trilateral Meeting of the Directors of National Museums in Beijing, China 2016.11.04
November 4, 2016, the 9th Trilateral Meeting of Directors of National Museums was held in the National Museum of China in Beijing. The Meeting was presided by Mr. LV Zhangshen, Director of the National Museum of China with the participation of Mr. YI Young-Hoon, Director of National Museum of Korea and Mr. ZENIYA Masami, Director of the Tokyo National Museum. TCS delegation led by SG YANG Houlan attended the Meeting as an observer for the first time.

 

In the afternoon, SG YANG delivered congratulatory remarks at the Opening Ceremony of the Joint Exhibition, “15-19th Century Trilateral Paintings”. He emphasized that the Meeting holds significance in regard to the preservation of cultural heritages and the facilitation of the exchanges among cultural institutions and organizations. After the Opening Ceremony, SG YANG and DSG LEE Jong-heon with the delegations of the three national museums appreciated the traditional paintings of the three countries.

 

The Trilateral Meeting of Directors of National Museums is one of the major trilateral consultative mechanism on culture started from 2006 to promote cultural cooperation and exchange among the national museums of the three countries. Since 2014, the three museums have been holding a joint exhibition as a sideline of the Meeting, as agreed at the Trilateral Culture Ministers’ Meeting. The next Meeting will be held in Seoul, Korea in 2018.
