The Trilateral Cooperation Secretariat (TCS) hosted the Farewell and Welcome Reception 2023 at the Four Seasons Hotel in Seoul, ROK, on August 28, 2023.
This event was a dual-purpose occasion – firstly, it served as a heartfelt send-off to the departing 6th Consultative Board, comprised of Secretary-General OU Boqian, Deputy Secretary-Generals BEK Bumhym and SAKATA Natsuko. Secondly, it marked the warm embrace of the incoming 7th Consultative Board, led by Secretary-General LEE Hee-sup, and accompanied by Deputy Secretary-Generals ZUSHI Shuji and YAN Liang. The gathering saw the participation of nearly 200 distinguished personalities from the CJK governments, corporate entities, academia, media, diplomatic circles, and private associations.
During the reception, the outgoing SG OU Boqian, took the stage to deliver an emotive farewell speech. She extended her appreciation to the attendees for their unwavering support and collaboration in driving trilateral cooperation and furthering the TCS' endeavors. SG OU underscored the achievements of the departing Consultative Board, while appealing for a continued partnership. Following her heartfelt words, the incoming SG LEE Hee-sup made his inaugural remarks with words of determination. He pledged resolute efforts alongside the newly appointed members to deepen trilateral cooperation, urging the attendees' attentive engagement and ongoing support for the TCS.
Congratulatory remarks graced the evening from representatives of the ROK Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA), as well as the Embassies of China and Japan. Deputy Minister CHUNG Byung-won of ROK MOFA delivered his message via video, while Ambassador XING Haiming of the Embassy of China and Deputy Chief of Mission KUMAGAI Naoki from the Embassy of Japan lent their voices in person, congratulating the incumbent Board for their successful tenure and welcoming the new leadership of the TCS.
The reception also featured the presentation of Plaques of Appreciation from the ROK Minister of Foreign Affairs to honor the dedication and commitment of the outgoing Consultative Board.
The TCS will embark upon its new phase with the 7th Consultative Board from September 1, 2023.
