Seminar & Forum Secretary-General LEE Jong-heon attended 2019 Boao Forum for Asia

On 28th March 2019, TCS Secretary-General LEE Jong-heon attended 2019 Boao Forum for Asia and delivered remarks at the Round-Table on Asian Regional Cooperation Organizations with the theme “Opportunities and Challenges of Asian Regional Cooperation in New Situation” in Boao, China. Mr. CHEN Xiaodong, Assistant Minister of Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China and leaders from SAARC, ASEAN, ASEAN-China Center, ACD Secretariat, SCO other Asian regional organizations participated in the roundtable to exchange views on future Asian regional cooperation.
In his remarks, SG LEE evaluated the current global and regional situation, the role of TCS in promoting Asian regional cooperation, as well as the difficulties in the new situation. He underlined the importance of minilateralism as an alternative governance model for regional cooperation, against the back drop of rising protectionism and nationalism and slow globalization. He called for closer interconnectivity among all regional organizations and stakeholders to cope with global and regional uncertainties.
During the Boao Forum for Asia 2019, SG LEE was interviewed by People’s Daily to share his insights regarding the achievements of trilateral cooperation and its role in promoting future Asian regional cooperation.
On 29th March 2019, SG LEE attended the 1st Boao Think-Tank Forum to exchange views on the current situation of Asian regional cooperation with eminent scholars from China, Japan, the ROK and ASEAN countries.
