Others 12th China Yanji-Tumen River Area International Investment and Trade Fair in Yanji, China 2018.08.29 ~ 2018.08.30

On August 28-29, TCS delegation headed by Deputy Secretary-General YAMAMOTO Yasushi attended the 12th China Yanji-Tumen River Area International Investment and Trade Fair in Yanji, China. Since the first fair in 1995, the bi-annual event has served as a platform to promote cooperation and communication of Northeast Asia and all around the world. The opening ceremony was attended by the high-levels from Jilin Province, Yanbian Prefecture, Consulates and other relevant entities. Business from 25 countries including China, Japan, the ROK, Russia, Mongolia and the DPRK participated in the fair. 

During the Fair, the Tumen River Region Free Trade Zone Seminar was held in Hunchun, China on August 30, 2018. The seminar provided suggestions to develop Great Tumen Area which would lead to a prosperous and interconnected Northeast Asia. DSG YAMAMOTO delivered a keynote speech at the sub-forum: Infrastructure Construction for Connectivity in Tumen River Region. 

During his speech, DSG YAMAMOTO recognized the vital role of infrastructure in regard of strengthening interconnectivity. He underlined the current favorable situation in Northeast Asia and encouraged the participating countries to seize the moment and co-develop the region by coming up with feasible action plans. He also suggested to hold the seminar in a rotation basis among relevant countries to boost exchanges and communications. Furthermore, he addressed the “3+1” modality resulted from the 7th Trilateral Summit and shared his insights about how “3+1”modality and Great Tumen Initiative can explore synergy for future cooperation. TCS will stand by all stakeholders to realize a peaceful and prosperous Northeast Asia.
