Mechanisms 7th CJK Ministerial Conference on Transport and Logistic in Seoul, ROK 2018.07.17 ~ 2018.07.18

 

 

 
The 7th Trilateral Ministerial Conference on Transport and Logistics was held on July 18, 2018 in Seoul, ROK. The DG Preparatory Meeting was held back-to-back on July 17. The three delegations were headed respectively by KANG Joon-suk Vice Minister of the Ministry of Ocean and Fisheries of the Republic of Korea, AKIMOTO Masatoshi Parliamentary Vice-Minister of the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport, and Tourism of Japan, and HE Jianzhong Vice Minister of the Ministry Transport of the People’s Republic of China. Trilateral Cooperation Secretariat (TCS) delegations Secretary General (SG) LEE Jong-heon and Deputy Secretary General (DSG) YAMAMOTO Yasushi attended as observers.

  

At the Conference, SG LEE reported the general progress of trilateral cooperation and the importance of transport and logistics cooperation. He also emphasized role and contribution of TCS toward transport and logistics mechanism including the trilateral transport and logistic joint website developed by TCS for exchanging knowledge among three countries. With appreciation, the representatives recognized the commitment of the TCS promoting trilateral cooperation in the transport and logistics system.

 

Also, during the Conference, the representatives of three countries re-affirmed their commitment to the five goals of the trilateral transport and logistics cooperation, such as 1) creation of seamless logistics system, 2) establishing of environmentally friendly logistics, 3) achievement of balance between logistics security and efficiency 4) strengthening cooperation on projects and policies under the major initiatives of the three countries to promote regional connectivity, 5) strengthening joint efforts on the 4th industrial revolution for transport technologies, and reviewed the newly arranged 11 Action Plans under the five main goals. After the Meeting, the Ministers signed the Joint Statement of the 7th Trilateral Ministerial Conference on Transport and Logistics. 

Followed by the Conference, China-Japan-Korea joint workshop on Maritime Autonomous Surface Ships (MASS) was held, and experts of both public and private sectors from three countries presented the current CJK policy tends and technical trends on MASS.

 

The 8th Trilateral Ministerial Conference on Transport and Logistics will be held in Japan in 2020.
