2018-12-07
The Culture City of East Asia 2018 Busan Closing Ceremony was held in December 7, 2018 in Busan, ROK.
The Busan Closing Ceremony officially marked the closing of the Culture City of East Asia 2018 program between Harbin, Kanazawa, and Busan. It was participated by the three culture cities headed by the vice mayors, Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism of the ROK, past culture cities of the ROK and over 500 citizens of Busan. TCS also participated in the event as an observer.
The Culture City of East Asia was agreed at the 4th Trilateral Culture Ministers’ Meeting in 2012 to practice the idea of ‘East Asian spirit, cultural exchange and convergence, and appreciation of other cultures’ with respect to cultural diversity. Since 2014, the Culture Cities of the three countries have been designated and announced each year at the Trilateral Culture Ministers’ Meeting. The three designated cities not only carry out a variety of events concerning their modern and traditional culture and art as well as wide ranging life-style but also engage in trilateral cultural exchanges that foster mutual understanding and friendship among the three countries.
Next year, Incheon of the ROK, Toshima-ku of Tokyo, Japan, and Xi’an of China will carry out cultural and people-to-people exchanges in collaboration as Culture Cities of East Asia 2019.
