2018.11.06
On November 6, 2018, Deputy Secretary-General HAN Mei attended the “One Belt One Road” China-Korea People-to-People and Culture Exchange Seminar at Incheon National University. The Seminar has brought prominent scholars and practitioners together to discuss and exchange ideas and knowledge on the promotion of people-to-people and culture exchange, as well as an inclusive and transparent development mode for common prosperity under the “One Belt One Road” initiative (OBOR).
Deputy Secretary-General HAN Mei introduced the historical development of trilateral cooperation and the main working areas and flagship programs of the Trilateral Cooperation Secretariat (TCS), such as the Young Ambassador Program, the joint study on supply chain connectivity among China, Japan and the ROK, and the CJK Free Trade Agreement Seminar, etc. She also shed light on the interpretation of OBOR in promoting inclusive, transparent and responsive development. Trilateral cooperation sees a great opportunity under OBOR, especially under the “CJK+X” development modality.
The Seminar laid an emphasis on the important role of universities, especially the role of Confucian Academies, in terms of promoting culture exchange and the development of OBOR. Speakers also mentioned that trilateral cooperation in culture and education has already started and is experiencing vigorous development. For instance, through CAMPUS Asia, endeavors have been made to nurture talents with appropriate language and professional skills to promote trilateral cooperation. The TCS actively coordinates the CAMPUS Asia program and maintains good partnerships with universities among China, Japan and the ROK.
People-to-people and culture exchange is one of the important pillars in trilateral cooperation which generates momentum for deeper and future-oriented cooperation. The TCS has always been and will continue to be supportive to its partners for the attainment of mutual understanding among China, Japan and the ROK for creating a solid basis for trilateral cooperation.
