On 28 May 2024, the delegation of the Shanghai Institutes for International Studies (SIIS) headed by Vice President LI Kaisheng visited TCS. The TCS Secretary-General LEE Hee-sup and Deputy Secretary-General YAN Liang met with the delegation and exchanged views on the latest developments of the trilateral cooperation among China, Japan, and the ROK, as well as future cooperation between the two organizations.

TCS Secretary-General LEE Hee-sup welcomed the SIIS delegation and recalled the previous cooperation between TCS and CJK think tanks. He briefly introduced the outcomes of the 9th Trilateral Summit Meeting which was held one day ago and expressed his expectation that think tanks in the three countries could play a more important role in promoting mutual trust and understanding.

TCS Deputy Secretary-General YAN Liang also welcomed the SIIS delegation and appreciated the continuous support from Vice President LI to the projects of TCS. He noted that the exchange among CJK researchers is an important area of trilateral cooperation and looked forward to more contributions to be made by CJK think tanks to follow up on the outcomes of the lately convened 9th Trilateral Summit, especially in the areas of regional economic cooperation and integration, sustainable development, green economy, youth exchange and so on.

SIIS Vice President LI Kaisheng appreciated the precious support from TCS board members. He echoed that SIIS takes trilateral cooperation as an important area for future work, and would like to explore the possibility of establishing platforms for future “Trilateral + X” think-tank exchange and cooperation.
