On December 1, 2022, Trilateral Cooperation Secretariat (TCS) Deputy Secretary-General BEK Bumhym attended LOGODI-Tsinghua Seminar co-organized by Tsinghua University of China and Local Government Officials Development Institute under the Ministry of the Interior and Safety of Korea. The seminar was held under the theme of “Retrospect and future of exchange and cooperation among local governments,” discussing balanced regional development, digital platform government, and local government exchange, on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of diplomatic ties between Korea and China. Experts from the two countries attended the seminar as the panels for presentations and discussions.

The first session was carried out around the topic “solidarity and cooperation between local governments for balanced regional development”, the second session about “achievements and prospects for realizing digital platform government by local governments”, and the third session about “ways to strengthen future-oriented exchanges and cooperation between local governments in Korea and China.” DSG BEK, who spoke for a panel discussion in session 3, emphasized that there are many obstacles to Korea-China relations, but the role of intergovernmental organizations such as TCS is important along with the efforts of local governments in Korea and China. DSG BEK added that active support from the central governments of Korea and China is needed to enhance the role of TCS, which has been established for 11 years.
