Others SG YANG Houlan Met YANG Yimin, Mayor of Fuzhou City, Fujian, China

On December 28, 2015, TCS Secretary-General YANG Houlan paid a courtesy visit to Fuzhou, and had a meeting with YANG Yimin, Mayor of Fuzhou municipal government, China, on the topic of how to increase Fuzhou’s participation in trilateral cooperation.
To begin with, SG YANG said that Fuzhou has great potential for future cooperation with Japan and ROK, as the capital of Fujian Province. As the CJK cooperation moved into a new development era after the Sixth Trilateral Summit in November 2015, Fuzhou should take this opportunity to more actively engage in the progress of trilateral cooperation, which would in return help Fuzhou to promote its socio-economic growth. He also expressed that TCS is ready to provide Fuzhou with any further assistance in need.
Mayor YANG elaborated on the current national projects focused on Fuzhou, such as “Fujian Pilot FTZ zone” and “the Core Area of the 21st Century Maritime Silk Road.” He also expressed Fuzhou’s expectations on future cooperation with TCS to expand trades and people-to-people exchanges with Japan and ROK.
Director of Political Affairs Wang Yanli, Director of Socio-Cultural Affairs Lee Hwajin From TCS attended the meeting.
After the meeting, SG YANG and the TCS delegation visited the “China ASEAN Marine Product Exchange” (CAMPE), an international maritime institute located in a National High and New Industrial Zone, at Mawei District, Fuzhou, and attended a briefing on CAMPE’s establishment, operation mechanisms, and China-ASEAN maritime trade, etc.
