On September 17, the 8th Trilateral Director General Level Meeting on Forestry Cooperation was held in Yongsan, ROK. The meeting was presided over by Mr. NAM Song Hee, Director-General of the International Affairs Bureau, Korea Forest Service, and attended by Mr. SAITO Kenichi, Director-General of the Private Forest Department, Forestry Agency of Japan, and Mr. Zhang Wei, Permanent Vice Director of Office of the National Greening Commission China. The Trilateral Cooperation Secretariat (TCS) delegation, led by Deputy Secretary-General ZUSHI Shuji, also participated in the meeting. 

The meeting consisted of six sessions covering topics such as forestry policy and achievements, sustainable forest management, promotion of wood use, forest disaster control, and more. The three Director-Generals and other representatives exchanged information and views on recent progress as well as the future direction of forestry development and cooperation. 

DSG ZUSHI emphasized that forests are vital for climate change response and biodiversity conservation and noted that trilateral forestry cooperation is a clear example of delivering tangible benefits to the peoples of the three countries. He reaffirmed TCS’s commitment to supporting these initiatives through projects, exchanges, and close collaboration with forestry authorities.
