On 9 September 2019, TCS delegation headed by Ms. QIAO Wen, Director of Economic Affairs, attended the 45th East Asia Business Council Meeting in Bangkok, Thailand. ASEAN+3 business representatives were invited to discuss strengthening further cooperation in ASEAN+3 economic and business sectors. 

At the Meeting, Director QIAO delivered a presentation on TCS’ activities in 2019, such as the International Forum on Trilateral Cooperation and Trilateral Entrepreneur’s Forum. She had discussion on how to strengthen cooperation between TCS and EABC. Both parties agreed to increase mutual learning opportunities and further explore projects to facilitate cooperation among business sectors in ASEAN+3.

On 10 September 2019, TCS delegation attended the EABC dialogue with ASEAN+3 Economic Ministers, where EABC reported its activities’ outcomes to the Ministers, including the best practice compilation project on the improvement of Supply Chain Connectivity (SCC) in ASEAN+3 conducted by TCS and EABC in 2018. The publication “Improving Supply Chain Connectivity in ASEAN+3” was distributed at the meeting.

The EABC was inaugurated in 2004 in Kuala Lumpur, endorsed by ASEAN+3 leaders in October, 2003. Its objective is to strengthen cooperation among ASEAN+3 private sectors as well as promote intra-regional trade and investment. Based on the ‘Manila Declaration on the 20th Anniversary of ASEAN+3 Cooperation’ and ‘ASEAN+3 Cooperation Work Plan 2018-2022’ of the 20th ASEAN+3 Summit, the TCS promotes trade and investment through collaboration with the EABC with a view to promoting deeper regional integration and further enhancing the work and initiatives of ASEAN+3 cooperation.
