On March 27 to 29, during the 2024 Boao Forum for Asia Annual Conference, Trilateral Cooperation Secretariat (TCS) Secretary-General LEE Hee-sup was interviewed by Chinese media outlets, including People’s Daily, China Media Group, Global Times, China Daily, 21st Business Herald, South China Morning Post, China Review News Agency, Beijing Daily, Hainan Daily, Jiefang Daily, etc.
During the interview, SG LEE shared his insights and perspectives on various crucial aspects of trilateral cooperation and briefed on TCS activities to promote the public awareness and visibility of TCS. He emphasized the significance of closer trilateral cooperation and increased exchanges among the three countries to address complex challenges and crises.
Regarding economic and trade cooperation among the three countries, SG LEE highlighted that China, Japan, and the Republic of Korea exert significant influence as key drivers of growth in East Asia, the Asia-Pacific region, and globally. He also stressed the importance of the three countries working together to elevate the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) to a higher level.
Addressing occasional cultural misunderstandings among the people of the three countries and negative sentiments online, SG LEE underscored the necessity of enhancing youth and grassroots exchanges to further promote future-oriented trilateral cooperation.
