Seminar & Forum TCS Secretary-General LEE Hee-sup attends the International Symposium to Commemorate the 10th Anniversary of China’s Principle of ‘Amity, Sincerity, Mutual Benefit and Inclusiveness’ in Neighborhood Diplomacy

On 24 October 2023, the International Symposium to Commemorate the 10th Anniversary of China’s Principle of ‘Amity, Sincerity, Mutual Benefit and Inclusiveness’ in Neighborhood Diplomacy was held in Beijing China. The Trilateral Cooperation Secretariat (TCS) Secretary-General LEE Hee-sup, Deputy Secretary-General ZUSHI Shuji and Deputy Secretary-General YAN Liang attended the Symposium. The symposium was organized by Office of the CPC Central Commission for Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China, and co-organized by the China Institute of International Studies. More than 200 participants including incumbent and former leaders of Asian countries, senior diplomats, governmental officials, representatives of international organizations, scholars participated in the event. H.E. XI Jinping, President of China sent a message to the symposium. H.E. WANG Yi, member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, Director of the Office of the Central Commission for Foreign Affairs and Minister of Foreign Affairs of China, delivered a speech at the opening ceremony.
TCS Secretary-General LEE made a presentation titled “Trilateral Cooperation & TCS: Pursuing Open Regionalism Based on Mutual Trust and Common Interests” at the Session 1 “Amity”. He briefly introduced the significance and progress of the trilateral cooperation among China, Japan and the ROK in various areas, highlighting the role and mission of the TCS in promoting the trilateral cooperation especially for the exchanges of youth, culture and local governments. He spoke highly of the current progress of the Trilateral Cooperation and looked forward to the resumption of the Trilateral Summit Meeting to bring stronger impetus to the peace and prosperity among the three countries and beyond.
Before the opening ceremony, H.E. WANG Yi met with the representatives of the participants and exchanged opinions with each other, during which Secretary-General LEE appreciated the unwavering support from the Chinese government for the work and development of the TCS. He stressed that TCS would make ceaseless efforts to fulfill its mission. SG LEE also extended his greetings to the H.E. Fukuda Yasuo, former Prime Minister of Japan and H.E. LEE Haechan, former Prime Minister of the ROK.
Secretary-General LEE also received interviews by China Central Television and Xinhua News Agency after Session 1.
