TC Activities Opening of the 1st Trilateral Young Rural Leader’s Exchange Program

On August 11th, the Trilateral Cooperation Secretariat (TCS) and
Foreign Affairs Office of Anhui Provincial People's Government co-hosted the 1st Trilateral Young Rural Leader’s Exchange Program
(TREP) in Huangshan, Anhui Province, China, with the support of
Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs of China, Ministry of Agriculture,
Food and Rural Affairs of the ROK, Anhui Provincial Department of
Agriculture and Rural Affairs, and Huangshan Municipal People's
Government.
SG OU delivered her opening remark, mentioning that China, Japan,
and the ROK have established the foundation of regional development
through long-term agricultural exchange and mutual learning, creating
leading agricultural technologies and splendid cultural heritage. In
modern times, facing common challenges such as rural population loss,
the sustainable development of agriculture requires a new generation
of leadership. Therefore, TCS is trying its best to establish more
platforms for youth exchange, including those from rural areas.
Mr. QIN Jungfeng, Director of the Foreign Affairs Office of Anhui
Provincial People's Government, and Ms. LIN Yun, Secretary of
Huangshan Municipal Party Committee, delivered their opening
remarks as well, introduced the rich history and great achievements of
Agriculture of Anhui Province and Huangshan City, and also
emphasized the essence of the TREP of bridging young rural leaders
from the three countries together, and building up a sustainable
platform for future exchange and cooperation.
Ms. LIU Xiangzhou, Deputy Director of the Asia Africa Division of
the International Cooperation Department of the Ministry of
Agriculture and Rural Affairs of China, Mr. KUDO Tatsuro, Director
of the East Asian Department of the Import and International Bureau
of the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries of Japan, and Mr.
SEO Myungchul, Chief Representative of the Beijing Office of the
Rural Revitalization Agency of the ROK, introduced the young rural
leaders related policy practices in CJK respectively.
During the luncheon meeting, Mr. HE Yi, the Mayor of Huangshan,
delivered his greeting speech to the TREP delegation. He pointed out
the great agricultural economy practice of Huangshan, especially rural
tourism and B&B. He further expressed his wish for a great success of
this program, hoping that participants from CJK could learn from each
other towards a better future. During the official meeting hosted by the
Huangshan government, Ms. LIN Yun again welcomed TCS
delegation. She introduced the rich culture and growing economy of
Huangshan, especially the activation and empowerment of agricultural
heritage, which deeply relies on the new generation. SG OU introduced
the history and programs of TCS, especially the youth-related programs,
and discuss with Ms. LIN on vast space for future cooperation.
17 young agricultural leaders from the three countries are invited to the
first Trilateral Young Rural Leader’s Exchange Program, going from
August 10-14, 2023, to attend symposiums and seminars, visit
symbolic rural areas related to rural revitalization, learn and exchange
the agricultural modernization and industrialization cases such as
agricultural technology, and rural tourism, and share experiences of
rural revitalization and youth entrepreneurship in the three countries.
