Others TCS Delegation Paid an Outreach Visit to the ASEAN 2017-05-18 ~ 2017-05-20

TCS delegation, headed by Secretary-General YANG Houlan, visited the Philippines, the ASEAN Chair 2017, on May 18-20, 2017. The delegation first paid a courtesy visit to H.E. Enrique A. MANALO, Undersecretary of Foreign Affairs of the Philippines. Calling today the century of Asia, the Undersecretary Manalo expressed the Philippines’ wish to further advance the ASEAN+3 cooperation, on the occasion of its 20th anniversary, with a strong focus on economy. He also called on the TCS and the ASEAN Secretariat to work together more closely as the actors spearheading the ASEAN+3 cooperation. SG Yang highlighted that China, Japan and the ROK are among the most important dialogue partners for ASEAN and asked for the ASEAN chair’s continued support for the TCS’ participation in the ASEAN+3 mechanisms.  

 

The TCS delegation also met with the Japanese Ambassador to the Philippines Mr. ISHIKAWA Kazuhide, the Korean Ambassador to the Philippines Mr. KIM Jae-shin and the Charge d’Affaires of the Chinese Mission to the Philippines Ms. HE Xiangqi. During the meetings, the dignitaries discussed the progress of trilateral cooperation, the prospect of various regional economic agreements and the TCS’ role in both trilateral and ASEAN+3 cooperative frameworks.
