Seminar & Forum TCS held the 1st Trilateral Economic Workshop 2016-01-19

Trilateral Cooperation Secretariat (TCS) organized the first Trilateral Economic Workshop on the “Challenges and Opportunities for Co-Prosperity − Trilateral Economic Cooperation after the 6th Trilateral Summit,” which was held on January 19, 2016 at the TCS Conference Room. 

Two sessions were carried out under the theme of ‘Retrospect and Prospect of the Economic Situation of China, Japan and ROK’ and ‘Common Challenges and Possible Cooperation for China, Japan and ROK.’ 

TCS invited three distinguished authors of the ‘2015 Trilateral Economic Report’ as speakers, Dr. LEE Chang Jae, Distinguished Research Fellow, Korea Institute for International Economic Policy, Dr. TANAKA Kiyoyasu, Research Fellow, Institute of Developing Economics, Japan External Trade Organization (EDE-JETRO), and Dr. LI Xiao, Vice Dean, School of Economics, Jilin University. ‘Trilateral Economic Report’ is an annual publication by TCS since 2012, with an aim to follow up and have comprehensive understanding on the economic cooperation among the three countries. 

The TCS Secretary-General YANG Houlan delivered the opening remarks, highlighting that the trilateral economic cooperation is not only beneficial for the three countries, but also conducive to the East Asia region. 

As a moderator of the session, the TCS Deputy Secretary-General LEE Jong-heon led lively discussions on trilateral economic issues, focusing on current issues as well as perspective on future trilateral cooperation. During the Q&A session, many questions were raised, showing arising interests on trilateral cooperation. 

The Workshop served as a good opportunity for all participants to share knowledge, experience and various views, and to further promote economic cooperation among the three countries.
